Jacksonville is America's largest city in terms of incorporated square miles.
This reality has impacted the development and character of the city as much
as the St. Johns River that divides it. At present, seven bridges connect
Jacksonville to its suburbs. Both sides of the river were developed before
the turn of the centry and electric trains were even going to Jacksonville
Beach through the "jungle" before 1920! As websites are developed by neighborhood
historians, they will be presented here.
