Jacksonville's public utilities operate on a multi-county basis like the local government. While not a public utility, Comcast, the Jacksonville cable provider, has been included here. (That's oneof those first calls one makes in a new city.) The recent merger of AT&T and ComCast assures the swift upgrade of cable, phone and internet services to thearea. The Jacksonville Electric Authority,(JEA), is the central provider for electric, water, garbage and sewage services.Gas is provided by several independent companies.
